JFCS Brings Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine

By Giving List Staff   |   March 10, 2022

With the eruption of war in Ukraine, Jewish Family and Children’s Services (JFCS) quickly mobilized to begin accepting donations for direct humanitarian aid. In cooperation with partner organizations working on the ground in Ukraine and neighboring countries, 100% of donations go to help those whose lives have been shattered by the invasion.

The incredible generosity of our community is ensuring food, shelter, clothing, legal services, and support are available to refugee families as quickly as possible—but the need is growing daily. Our partners anticipate aid and services will be needed for months, if not years, to come.

By giving to the JFCS Emergency Aid Fund, you will provide crucial aid and show people in heartbreaking situations that they are not alone. Please click here to make a gift.

I was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, and resettled in the US as a refugee along with tens of thousands of others in the early 1990s. JFCS resettled my family and so many others, and they are currently working directly with a coalition of organizations to provide aid to the growing number of Ukrainian refugees today. If you can, please donate.

Many in our Bay Area community have family and friends in Ukraine. JFCS is offering legal services to help reunite those with relatives in the Bay Area, Israel, or other countries. We are also providing counseling and support for members of our community, including children and Holocaust survivors, for whom this war has been traumatizing. If you or someone you care about needs help, contact us at LegalServices@jfcs.org or 415-449-2906.

Please make a gift to the JFCS Emergency Aid Fund. Through this extraordinary humanitarian effort, people will receive lifesaving help, now and in days to come.

For updates on this evolving situation, please check the JFCS website.

Provide Critical Support to the Community by Expanding JFCS’ Emergency Services Fund

We continue to live in challenging times. JFCS seeks to raise $100,000 for its emergency services fund, so that there is critical support when a community crisis arises. Contributions allow JFCS to serve those who couldn’t otherwise afford services.

Mission

Jewish Family and Children’s Services exists to provide professional and volunteer services for the purposes of developing, restoring, and maintaining the competency of families and individuals of all ages.

Traditionally, Jewish Family and Children’s agencies carry a special responsibility within the Jewish community for reaching out to children, the aged, the alienated and the dependent, and for the resettlement and acculturation of refugees and immigrants.

As part of the network of Jewish community services, the Agency helps promote Jewish continuity through the provision of preventive, educational, therapeutic, and supportive services, within the context of historic Jewish values, emphasizing inter-generational ties and community responsibility.

My mother’s quality of life greatly improved, as did mine, knowing that she was in such safe and capable hands. Her needs have varied over the years, but the one thing that’s consistent is the way JFCS’ Seniors At Home helps us – regardless of the issue. What a blessing it is for the Bay Area to have an organization that serves our community from birth to death. I feel like the folks at JFCS have supported me the way siblings would support each other. I am so grateful to have found them.
