Together We Can Change Lives

The work we’re doing to advance racial and economic justice across the county is about inspiring hope and transforming lives. Many people consider Marin County to be one of the most beautiful places to live in the United States. It has some of the highest incomes per capita and one of the lowest unemployment rates. But it also has the widest gap between rich and poor, and among the greatest racial inequities in California.  

Did you know that even in Marin, 1 in 5 families (and 1 in 3 seniors) struggle to put food on the table? Too many people experience food insecurity. I know that you, like me, believe everyone in Marin deserves better than being hungry or uncertain about their next meal.

That’s why we’re reaching out to our community this year end to ask for financial support. Our passionate team works year-round to increase well-being, helping to give people a step up and regain their confidence. For example, since 2019, the staff working with dedicated parent volunteers has grown over 750 pounds of produce annually at our organic production farm. This work has reduced stress in families, fortified the bodies and minds of little ones, and helped our community to thrive.

Community Action Marin also owns and operates a commercial Central Kitchen, preparing meals twice daily for over 500 toddlers and preschool children. That’s over 350,000 nutritious meals and snacks annually to foster well-being at our high-quality early education centers. 

New this year, the Central Kitchen team also makes incredible food for older adults finding connection over congregate meals at the county’s senior centers. None of this would be possible without the generous support of our donors.
